Living coral: a colour that is a hymn to life!
For 2019 Pantone Color Institut has decreed the Living Coral as the color of the year.
As explained by Laurie Pressman, vice president of Pantone, interviewed by Associated press:
With everything that happens today, we have sought a color that communicates humanity, in response to the dehumanization of this digital era. This color brings comfort and makes us feel good. We want to play, to lightness.
The living coral that will accompany us throughout 2019 is a hymn to life, to authentic and intimate experiences, to the era without social media : it is an innate symbol of conviviality, optimism and happiness.
Moreover, living coral is a colour present in nature, a nuance that refers to an element of the marine ecosystem of extraordinary purity and beauty. Respect for the environment and the protection of natural resources are certainly themes that Pantone Color Institut has taken into account when choosing the color of the year.
This color has imposed itself on us at such a delicate time for the environment, climate change is whitening the coral reefs erasing their rainbows.
Living Coral Fabrics: Easy to match and wear
The coral pink will dress the 2019 outfits for an extremely feminine look.
It’s a decidedly soft and delicate shade, which we’ll love in the summer, but it’s perfectly suited to give liveliness to winter outfits as well.
It is an eclectic shade that lends itself to both sporty daytime looks and elegant evening looks.
Coral is a versatile colour that is easy to wear and match.
On the catwalk of Zero + Maria Cornejo we see it in combination with white or cream; Brandon Maxwell proposed the coral-red combo; Roksanda a coral-colored overcoat combined with a blue blouse and camel-colored trousers and a dress in total coral look with burgundy inserts; Elisabetta Franchi proposed a beautiful tulle flounced dress that pays homage to all shades of coral pink.
In short, coral is destined to become the trendiest and most feminine colour of 2019 and to light up our wardrobe with its warm shade.
